After all those years as a woman hearing: Not thin enough, not pretty enough, not smart enough, not this enough, not that enough, almost overnight I woke up one morning and thought "I am enough." Anna Quindlen
They say that 50 is the new 30. Nope it sure isn’t and I wouldn’t want it to be. Plus I am older than 50 and have lived a pretty interesting life. Yes that’s the word that summarizes the good, bad, mundane and fascinating life experiences. These experiences, memories, bumps and bruises that life has given me are embraced as part of me. I’ve spent, as I am sure others have, a part of my life living according to the negative messages that I received from early childhood. And to think these were from well meaning family, friends, and other trusted adults. I’d like to think they didn’t realize the magnitude of what they said but when I made the decision to reclaim my power and feminine essence all I had to do was come back to my heartbeat. My natural rhythms involve music: always have and always will. Connecting to my natural rhythms, not being tied to a specific outcome and fully embracing all of me, has allowed me to be “me.” Perfect; nope and not trying to be. Sometimes it even sounds strange that I can say that out loud and be OK with it. Not having biological sisters, made me build my tribe from a young age. These women have watched me laugh, cry, held me up, supported and encouraged me and celebrated with me. This all done from a place of loving support. Disconnection from who we are often begins in our childhood and we can spend the rest of our lives trying to be who we think others believe us to be. I am designing my life to be the version of me that serves a higher good for all. My work in Special Education, Addictions, Mental Health and Trauma Informed Practices all rely on me showing up as me. I love a good joke, laughing, dancing, being near water (lake, stream, ocean or the bath tub if necessary) and being with my family and friends. Most of all I enjoy circle work that creates a sacred container of love and trust to support each other’s journey through those Sister, Mother, and Father wounds that might be preventing us from standing in our true Divine Feminine Power. You are enough my Dear Sister! I wholeheartedly support women as they get to the point of believing and fully embracing that mindset. You can catch me hanging out with my family, crafting, visiting museums and researching artifacts, taking pictures, and interacting with all of the world around me.
